File Configuration

Similar as with the “Database Configuration”, you can add files within “File Configuration” to which the eXate protection tools can be applied. You can access the “File Configuration” menu by navigating to the left-hand menu bar and selecting “Datagator” followed by “File Configuration”. From there you can access the different file options: Text File, Folder and XML.

Test File

To add a new Text File, navigate to the “Text File” option within the “File Configuration” menu and press the “+” button on the top right of the “Text File Configuration” header.

To add a new File Configuration you will need to fill out the following fields:

  • Name: Name of text file

  • Source Storage Type: Either Local Storage or SMB

  • Source Root: This is the UNC Path where your file is present.

  • Source File Path: It is the combination of the unique address of the directory where the File is located and the name of the file which we want to protect. Also has a button to upload.

  • Is Delimited: Toggle to decide whether the file is fixed width or delimited.

  • Delimiter: It can be comma, pipe, semicolon, and tab.

  • Is Header: Toggle to decide whether the columns have the headings or not.

  • Beginning line number: Beginning of the line.

  • Target: The destination where we want to copy the Protected data whether a database or file.

  • Target Storage Type: Either Local Storage or SMB (dependant on the source storage type)

  • Target Root: The root directory of the target directory.

  • Target File Path: The directory and file name.

  • Active: Toggle to indicate whether it is active or not

The Columns will be returned according to the Delimiter selected by the User where we can select the sensitive column to be protected by selecting the Attribute type corresponding to the column.

When adding a text file you can create a new source root, when clicking this button it will take you to the eXate Vault to add all the details.

nce a file configuration has been created you will be able to view it from the main “Text File”. From there you will be able to edit and delete any configuration you created. When editing after pressing the pencil icon next to a text file.

Folder

Similar to the Text File option, Folder is a collection of files to which the eXate protection process can be applied to. You can access it by navigating the “Folder” option on the left-hand menu bar under “Datagator”.

To add a folder navigate to the “+” button in the top right of the “Folder Configuration” header.

To add a new Folder Configuration you will need to fill out the following fields:

  • Name: Name of the Folder Manifest.

  • Source Storage Type: Either Local Storage or SMB

  • Source Root: This is the Network Path in which your folder is present.

  • Source File Path: The unique address of the directory in which Folder is located.

  • Delimiter: Which type of Delimiter the programmers have used. It can be comma, pipe, semicolon, and tab.

  • Beginning line number: Beginning of the line.

  • Is Header: Toggle to decide whether the columns have the headings or not.

  • Target Storage Type: Either Local Storage or SMB (dependant on the source storage type)

  • Target Root: The Network Path of the target directory.

  • Target Folder path: The address of the target directory.

  • Active: Toggle to indicate whether active or not

Once a folder configuration has been created you will be able to view it from the main “Folder”. From there you will be able to edit and delete any configuration you created. When editing after pressing the pencil icon next to a text file. You will also be able to see the Files in Scope.

XML

To navigate to the XML configuration, you will need to press the “Datagator” option on the left-hand side and then go to “XML File”.

To add a folder navigate to the “+” button in the top right of the “Folder Configuration” header.

To add a new XML File Configuration you will need to fill out the following fields:

  • Name: Name of the XML File.

  • XSD Schema: It contains the structure of the XML File Payload that you will need to add.

  • Source Storage Type: Either Local Storage or SMB.

  • Source Root: This is the Network Path in which your XML File is present.

  • Source File Path: The unique address along with the File name of the directory in which the XML file is located.

  • Target Storage Type: Either Local Storage or SMB.

  • Target Root: The Network Path of the target directory.

  • Target File Path: The address with the File name of the target directory.

  • Active: Toggle to indicate whether active or not.

Once a XML File configuration has been created you will be able to view and edit it from the main “XML File” screen. From there you will be able to edit and delete any configuration you created. When editing after pressing the pencil icon next to a text file. You will also be able to view the selected attributes and recent jobs, as well as the Subject Entity Flags Tree.

The Tree Structure is viewed automatically after saving the XSD Schema. Check the checkboxes to select which attributes to protect.

You are also able to create a new source root or view the details of the source root. To do this navigate to the button next to the source root field. When clicking this button it will take you to the Vault which shows the details of the XML file source root or empty fields to add a new source root.
